Meet your representatives
I have been married to my amazing wife Maria for 13 years and we have 3 awesome children - Joel (11), Bella (9) and Eva (7) - all currently attending Nelson Christian Academy. I have been a Christian since I came to faith as a teenager and have spent most of my time in Elim churches in Palmerston North, Auckland and now, Nelson. 17 years ago I accepted the call to become the Youth Pastor at Elim Christian Centre Botany, where I saw the youth grow from 20 to well over 300 attending a weekly youth church in 4 years. During this time I also had the privilege of serving as the Chaplain for Elim Christian College. I have been employed as the Lead Pastor of Elim Christian Centre Nelson for the last 12 years. During this time we have seen the following: • the building of a new church facility • weekly church attendance grow from 30 to around 150 • the development of Holiday and After School programmes I have experience in governance and management and am currently: • the Chairperson of the ElimKids Preschool Governance Team and oversee its management • a Trustee of Elim Christian Centre Nelson, ElimKids Preschool and PowerZone Nelson Trusts • on the National Leadership Team of Elim Churches of NZ • responsible for 24 staff, 8 of whom are my direct reports. I have a background in science and business, with experience in technical engineering, production planning, health & safety, environmental management and operations management. Prior to becoming a Pastor, I held national management roles within large companies in the NZ food industry. I believe that my background in process development, quality improvement, health & safety, finance, trust management, staff management and business development, coupled with my ministry experience, creates a unique combination that I believe would be an asset to the NCA Board of Trustees.
Hello my name is Isaac Carnegie and I have had the privilege to sit on the NCA board over the last six years. We have seen some amazing progress, growth and favor in our school community over the last Board of Trustees term, and I am keen to continue to support our school community and believe that I can contribute to the on-going success of our tamakri and our school.
My wife (Holly-May) and I have four children attending NCA, Psalm who is 12, Eden who 11 and Noah who is 8, and wee Eli who has just started.
My Wife is an education professional and we jointly own a local preschool employing 25 staff supporting over eighty families, to start their educational journey.
As well as being a business owner I have worked in governance roles within our community over the last fourteen years, and within management roles over the last decade.
I have held my current role with the Ministry of Social Development for over fourteen years where I am employed as an operations manager and crisis respsone manager.
This work is focused on governance and oversight of government strategic direction and ensuring implementation of political will.
I hold one Royal warrant and one Ministerial warrant, these warrants allow to me to oversee law enforcement agencies and ensure they are following international best practice and that the search, surveillance and arrest powers are balanced with suffice evidence and in the public interest.
We at NCA have a huge point of different and that is our unity in faith. We have taken many leaps of faith over my time on the board, employing extra teaching staff, expanding our school’s capacity and undertaking building projects, each time our wonderful God has been faithful. We have something very special here, and I love being a part of it.
Our school has a wonderful caring environment, and this is not by accident, but due to the dedicated staff, who don’t see being a teacher as just a job but a calling. I would be privileged to work with them again over the next three years.
There is lots more work to do, I am passionate about lifting student achievement and having a school that fosters Christian values, so bring on the next three years.
Thanks and God bless Isaac Carnegie
My Name is Shaun Coles and I am standing for Nelson Christian Academy School Board.
Since having three children in Nelson Christian Academy, I have decided to the stand as a candidate for the school board. I am passionate in seeing children reach their full potential through solid Christian foundations, a high standard of education and continuous sporting opportunities.
I have attended and worshipped at Unite Church since moving to Nelson in January 2017. I have assisted in the worship team by undertaking to do the sound set up as well as playing guitar in the worship team. At the beginning of 2019, I felt God’s calling to get involved with the youth in our church. I am currently running a program on Sunday mornings for the intermediates. I am passionate about developing intermediates into confident teenagers knowing God’s word and the direction He has for them.
Since our three children have attended Nelson Christian Academy, I have been happy with the standard of education provided by outstanding teachers. Since attending the NCA awards evenings, I have come to appreciate the standard that the students at NCA have set for themselves and how confident they are at achieving these standards. These character traits are made possible by the continuous nurturing of the students by passionate teachers of whom I would be privileged to work alongside.
I am currently involved with coaching 9th Grade club football at Nelson Suburbs Football Club. I have been coaching the same team now for the past three years and over this time I have seen how sport can develop friendships and individual character. Nelson Christian Academy, although having a lower number of students than the surrounding schools have produced some outstanding sportsman/woman. I have been involved in managing several teams from Summer football to Rippa Rugby and have seen the improvement and growth amongst the students. I am extremely passionate about giving students the chance to be involved in both sports and/or extra mural activities.
Being elected for the school board will allow me to work alongside other parents and teachers who have the same passion towards the students as I have. Doing our part will help Nelson Christian Academy be the school that the God has destined it to be.
Hi, my name is Tracy Fallow and I am standing for the Board of Trustees for Nelson Christian Academy. I have been part of the NCA school community since term 2 in 2018.
I am married to Nigel and we have two sons, Joshua who attends Nayland College and William who attends NCA.
I am a person who loves to help others, and am passionate about working with children to nurture them and help them to reach their full potential. It is because of this desire to work with children that six years ago I got involved in the ShineGirl Program (a unique personal development and group mentoring programme for girls).
I have been facilitating groups for ShineGirl, in different schools across Nelson, teaching girls about their worth, strength and purpose. As much as this is a position that enables me to give support, assistance and advice to young girls, it has also given me strength to know who I am and the calling that God has on my life.
I attend Annesbrook Church and have been involved in the church since my children were little. I lead a team of hosts and co-ordinate the running of the team's requirements for the Sunday services. This position has enabled me to develop my confidence, meet new people and step out of my comfort zone.
Since stepping out of my comfort zone at church and coming to work at NCA, I feel that I want to be more involved with the everyday thoughts, ideas and decision making for the beneficial future of the school and the children that attend. I am a forward thinker and have lots of great ideas to share. I am proactive in speaking up and getting things done. I have the well-being and interests of the children at heart and want to be more than just another helper in the classroom. After attending the Korari Workshop for governance training, I knew that I wanted to be a representative voice on our Board of Trustees.
I've given this a lot of prayer and have had this on my heart for quite some time. Please consider me as a representative for the 2019 NCA BOT Elections.
Yours sincerely
Tracy Fallow
My name is Netsy Grubham.
I am a devoted wife and mother of 3 awesome kids. I have been committed to my church for over 25 years and my Husband (Warren) and I serve in the children's ministry for 19 of those years :) All my children attended this school, with my youngest (Gabriel) still here I have felt to put my name forward once again, to serve you, on the Board as a trustee.
Over the years I have worked with and in the community. We have owned and operated our own business. I am currently working for the The Depot Trust, in their Children's program.
I believe in strong, Godly leadership and if elected, I will support good initiatives to support our Principal and the staff at NCA. I feel that when the staff are supported and in and environment of empowerment then our children will thrive, in education, relationships with each other, the teachers and God.
I love to see children excelling in their strengths, be it academically, sports or the arts. Part of my mission for this term on the Board would be to see that the options our children need to excelle are available to them and their teachers. To uphold and improve on our class environments.
Our school has a special character and this will be reflected in all Board decisions for our school.
I enjoy being able to contribute to my children’s education by being part of a Board of Trustees comprised of a diverse group of parents and teaching professionals. Thank you.
